Seaside Scavenge

Educates communities & businesses about plastic pollution & textile waste using a fun approach; turning trash into cash

About

Seaside Scavenge educates participants about different waste streams using varied fun and unique approaches that inspire participation. This is primarily done through hosting waterway clean-up events where litter collected from local waterways becomes a currency in a pop-up market to purchase pre-loved clothes and goods that have been donated by the local community. Since 2015 Seaside Scavenge have hosted 60 events that have inspired over 6,212 participants in 43 communities across Australia and the globe to remove 12,280kg of litter and 172,60 cigarette butts as well as redistribute 8,243kg of second-hand goods. Seaside Scavenge has also inspired 125 businesses to take up the Plastic Free Pledge. Seaside Scavenge is currently looking to diversify the audience it educates about waste streams and has set its sights on hosting tailored workshops for corporates as well as other stakweholders. To get this happening, we're looking for people with the passion and skillsets to get us on our way!
