SMART Recovery International

Governing body for the SMART Recovery program that helps people overcome addictive behaviour.

SMART Recovery is a mutual aid, science-based program that helps people manage their addictive behaviours. A practical, solution focussed, and humane program SMART uses evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) tools and techniques to help people achieve their goals. SMART Recovery Meetings are run by trained Facilitators who lead group discussions on behaviours and motivations. The first SMART Recovery group started in the USA in 1994. Since that time the program has grown steadily, and there are now over 3,500 groups meeting each week in 25 countries across the globe.
