Key project info

The problem needing to be solved

Toy Libraries Australia (TLA) is about to receive DGR status through specific listing in the legislation. We want to make the most of the amazing opportunity and need specific legal advice on two opportunities:

  1. How should TLA organise itself (both structurally and process-wise) to be able to auspice individual toy library for grant applications requiring DGR status?
  2. Can TLA establish a semi-autonomous fund with an aligned purpose for a specific project

Responsibilities of the online volunteering project

Desired outcomes

  1. TLA is able to auspice individual toy libraries for grants requiring DGR status within affecting our financial sustainability or creating an administrative burden
  2. TLA can run a semi-autonomous project funded by donations from a private ancillary fund with a separate governance/advisory board while maintaining strong governance practices and meeting all required legislation

  • Help us clarify our objectives for the two opportunities
  • Provide specific legal advice about what is possible within the relevant legislation and what structure is required
  • Define the supporting policies, procedures or processes required to implement the advice provided

The benefit to you, the volunteer

Use your legal training and expertise to support the peak body for toy libraries around Australia which are mostly run by volunteer committees.

You will be part of a project that we hope will transform the financial opportunities available to toy libraries and drastically improve their financial stability.
