Redefining Our Relationship with Money: The Vision of Amanda di Medici and the Yenom Foundation
When Amanda di Medici founded the Yenom Foundation she knew that addressing financial literacy was about far more than balancing budgets. For Amanda, it is a social mission, a broader community problem and one that impacts housing security, equitable opportunity and the ability for a person to live with dignity. Only 49% of Australians are considered finically literate, a statistic that highlights a concerning reality. That lack of education can have life-altering consequences, with low financial literacy often linked to issues like homelessness, unemployment, financial abuse and long term poverty. Yenom’s mission is to close that education gap by helping people build not only financial literacy skills but also a healthier relationship with money.
In its short life, the Yenom Foundation has already made an impressive impact. At the 2024 Social Impact in the Regions summit, Amanda pitched the Yenom Foundations concept and walked away as the event winner. An admirable achievement that validated both the need for the Yenom Foundation and the way she was communicating the Foundations vision.
The win brought collaboration opportunities, increased visibility and an invitation to present at this years Social Enterprise Festival, which is organised by the Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA). Amanda's workshop; Reflect. Rethink. Reclaim your Financial Power focuses on one of Yenom’s core philosophies, reflecting on your personal relationship with money. Innovating in Financial Education
One of Amandas exciting future projects is the soon-to-launch Finfluencer accreditation program. This RTO-accredited, two-day course will set standards for financial literacy educators and online Finfluencers, ensuring that those sharing financial advice do so with ethics, accuracy, and responsibility.
