Earthwatch Institute

Earthwatch engages people on scientific expeditions to conserve the integrity and diversity of life on Earth.

About

Who we are

Earthwatch is an international environmental charity. We bring individuals from all walks of life together with world-class scientists to work for the good of the planet.

Our vision

Our vision is a world in which we live within our means and in balance with nature.  Together with leading scientists, we create memorable field research experiences that facilitate and disseminate world-class scientific research.

What we do

We offer unique travel and learning experiences for everyday people that promote environmentally sustainable action. We work with teachers and educators to help them bring their experiences back to the classroom to foster new generations of environmental leaders in their students.

Working with businesses and non-profit organisations we enable companies to implement sustainable policies, processes, and practices that promote environmental responsibility both in and out of the office.

Finally, Earthwatch works to sustain wildlife populations and to improve the quality and quantity of habitats and ecosystems, as well as preserving our cultural heritage while improving livelihoods worldwide.

Making a difference

Over our 45 year history we have created 20 national parks and reserves, constructed 9 museums and informed over 1200 environmental policies.  Our objective is to make tangible and significant contributions to international conventions, agendas, management plans, development plans, and government policies. We do this regionally, nationally, and internationally.
